2D RPG Fall 1997 (Japan) |
Coming this fall is a very untraditional RPG
called Moon, developed by Lovedelic and published by ASCII of Japan. What makes
this game so unusual are the character designs, the story and the gamesystem. One night, a boy (the player) is sitting at home playing video games. His mother comes in and tells him that it's too late, and it's time to turn it off. The boy does as his mother says and goes to the power switch. Then suddenly a mysterious force from the controller holds the boy back, and the TV sends out a strange light, sucking the boy inside to another dimension. When the boy wakes up, he finds himself in the world of his game, the "World of Fake Moon". The boy was naturally scared to death, and almost passes out when he finds out that he is invisible (only his clothes are visible). The game plays in real-time. We are not talking about real-time graphics, but real-time gameplay. A clock is shown on the top left corner of the screen, indicating what time it is. As you go around and explore the world, it goes from day to night and to day again. You may have to complete certain tasks within a day, before you fall asleep. ASCII/Lovedelic |
